Eric Hsueh has been awarded the Gold Prize in Sculpture with his work “Ink Form III: Wing of Becoming” at the Global Best Creative Awards 2025.

A perfectionist of material and spirit, Hsueh forges Eastern philosophy through metal, reshaping the language of contemporary sculpture. His practice reflects a meditative dialogue between material integrity, philosophical depth, and emotional resonance.

Born in Taiwan, Eric Hsueh was admitted to both the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts (Beaux-Arts de Paris) and the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) in France, where he ultimately earned his diploma. Metal became his chosen language—honest, unyielding, and enduring, capable of withstanding the rigor of his creative discipline. Every cut and every strike becomes a record of time, emotion, and spiritual engagement.

Eric Hsueh

Hsueh rejects non–eco-friendly materials, believing that material choice is an ethical stance. For him, originality is not merely a preference but a principle. Within the strength and resistance of metal, he seeks to articulate an Eastern spirit for the contemporary era—the poetics of spatial voids, resilience formed through rupture, and the shifting tension between chaos and order.

His sculptures are not objects but states of becoming—where spirit takes form through matter, and where force is rewritten through fracture and reconstruction. Through this approach, Hsueh invites viewers to witness the transformation of material into meaning.

About “Ink Form III: Wing of Becoming”

Hsueh’s sculptural practice centers on the dialogue between opposites—void and substance, yin and yang, reality and illusion, fragility and strength—forging them into a visual language charged with dynamic tension.

Drawing inspiration from the spontaneity of Chinese ink painting, especially the expressive gestures of splashing and spreading ink, he embraces chance and freedom while seeking an underlying order. This methodology reflects the Eastern emphasis on atmosphere and spirit, infusing his works with vitality, fluidity, and poetic resonance.

The contrasts in density and openness echo ink wash aesthetics, constructing depth, spatiality, and contemplative space. His sculptures serve as bridges to the inner self, inviting viewers into “spiritual realms” that transcend physical form.

Artistic Recognition

Eric Hsueh’s works have earned international acclaim, receiving distinctions across Europe and Asia, including the Diamond Award, Platinum Award, and Gold Award from the World Front Design Award. Through his continued innovation in form, visual language, and spiritual tension, he expands the expressive possibilities of contemporary sculpture.
